10/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Fifi was brought in with limited information on her behavioral tendencies in a home environment. The owner reports she shared a covered litter box with another cat in the home. She has not been around other animals besides this one cat and has never been around children. She has never bitten or scratched anyone, and allows the owner to handle her. She was very nervous upon intake and was reluctant to come out of her carrier on her own. She allowed all handling during the intake process, however, but was very nervous during her initial medical exam and displayed distance-increasing behaviors. The enrichment facilitator reports she was crouched over by the back during their first interaction. She appeared very stressed and fearful, hissing with her ears flat against her head. She displayed the same behaviors during her second day and did not appear to have interest in interacting. She displayed improved behavior on her third day. She still seems a little nervous, but was acting very sweet and affectionate, leaning in for petting. Reaction to assessor: Fifi appeared calm and relaxed, lying down quietly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Fifi watches the assessor with wide eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Fifi remains in place and remains calm. Reaction to touch: Fifi accepts petting on her head and leans in for more rubs. She warms up with a few soft passes over her body and chirps, allowing petting all over and then gets up for more attention with her tail quivering. Reaction to being picked up: Fifi remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Average Fifi interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
