FESTOR – A1061508
Safe - 1-19-2016 Brooklyn
SAFE 1/19/16 A volunteer writes: When I interacted with Festor today, I found him friendly, easy-going and affectionate. A while later, he was having his photo taken, and I got to see a more playful side to this young man. The photographer was trying to get him to focus on a feather, and Festor cooperated fully, sitting stock still and following the feather with his eyes-to the left, then right, then up, then down. He patiently watched it move, and I was sure that I could read his mind as he pondered his next move: “When should I pounce on this thing? Should I wait until it moves to the right again? That’s my best side for attacking… Hmm…. Oh, here it comes again….” He had the cutest expression on his face the entire time, making me want to pick him up and snuggle with him. Festor is a purr-fectly wonderful kitty.

Adoptions counselor noted lameness during and interation
S/O: BAR, grade 3 lameness on left hind limb. Patellar luxation left hind, grade 3/4. Was not painful for palpation.
A: Left hind patellar luxation
P: Due to the lameness, surgical correction is ideal. However he was not painful on palpation and during examination.
Behavior:
Reaction to assessor: Festor stays at the back of the cage but looks at you calm and relaxed
When spoken quietly: Festor stays at the back of the cage but looks at you calm and relaxed
Reaction to door cage opening: Festor becomes a little nervous
Reaction to touch: Festor allows petting and starts to rub his head on the assessor hand
Try picking cat up: Festor is tolerant of this type of handling but tense
Behavior Determination: Average Home
Festor was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying shy behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, allows handling and tolerates all petting. Festor is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
