There is mild purulent discharge. No alopecia to the sides of the wound – fur goes right up to the edges of the skin. The skin margins are smooth, not jagged, and there is no bleeding. Non-affected skin is healthy, with a shiny clean hair coat. UG: Male neutered A: Large deep wound on pt’s back – possibly an infected bite wound. A burn is also possible although less likely, due to the fact that there is no superficial injury (1st degee or 2nd degree burn) between the penetrating wound and the healthy skin. Short-term prognosis: Fair. The wound is very large and deep. P: 1. Sedate later today for clipping around the wound, and wound cleaning 2.
