Unfortunately due to scratching children he could not be kept. He was last brought to the vet 5 yrs ago for vaccinations. Socialization: Around strangers Enrique is shy for a few minutes and plays gentle with adults. He has been socialized . He has been socialized with cats and was respectful and tolerant of them. He has never been socialized with dogs and there’s no records of him ever biting another animal or person. Upon intake Enrique did not allow all handling. He was hissy and swatted at the counselor when attempting to collar. Enrique also attempted to flee on various occasions. Behavior: Enrique will meow a lot when he is alone, occasionally attempts to escape your home, occasionally has litter box accidents and will sleep during car rides. You will struggle with Enrique when attempting to give him a bath or trim his nails but he enjoys being brushed, being picked up, being placed in a carrier and isn’t bothered when being disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Enrique is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, confident, independent, talkative and somewhat fearful in new environments. He has a medium activity level, enjoys belly rubs, will follow you around when home with you, enjoys playing with balls, strings, laser pointers and catnip toys. He has been kept mostly indoors, prefers to sleep on his own bed, ate Shiba dry food 3x a day, seems to be litter box trained, prefers an uncovered litter box wit clumping litter and likes a scratching post made of cardboard.
