04/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Emma’s previous owner reports she is very friendly and social towards strangers. She is tolerant and gets along well with children. She enjoys being around people and seeks attentions. She has also resided with another cat and got along very well with the cat. She allows the owner to pick her up and hold her, and isn’t bothered when woken up or placed inside of a carrier. She was best described as friendly, affectionate, and playful. Emma has a very high activity level and loves to run around and play. When the owner comes home, she will follow them around. Reaction to Assessor: Emma retreats to the back of her cage and hisses. Reaction when softly spoken to: Emma looks at the assessor and rubs her cheeks on her litter box. Reaction to cage door opening: Emma remains motionless and blinks. Reaction to touch: Emma ducks her head when pet on her head and hisses, but would lift her butt when pet on her lower back. She would turn her lower back to face the assessor and rub her cheeks against her litter box, but randomly hisses again and begin to lip lick and blink. Placement Determination: Experience Emma tolerates petting on her lower body, but may be but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Although the previous adopters report she does well around children, because of her tendency to hiss intermittently during an interaction we recommend any future home with young children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
