10/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Elsie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Elsie was near the front of the kennel looking out with dilated eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Elsie slowly moves into her litter box with her body crouched and her tail lowered. Her eyes are focused on all movements and she doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Elsie remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Elsie was hesitant of contact and slowly leans away with her eyes closed when the assessor extends his hand out. She sinks into the litter box and becomes immobile when touched along her body. After a couple soft passes she slowly rises up and raises her rear when rubbed. She lifts her head up, purrs softly, slowly leans in for cheeks rubs and appreciates attention. Reaction to being picked up: Elsie was a bit tense when picked up but slowly relaxes in the assessor’s arms and leans in for rubs. Behavior Determination: Experience Elsie may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
