Safe - 2-25-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
*** SAFE 02/25/16 *** Sweet ELLIS is just 2 years old and came into the shelter social and affectionate. However, he does show signs of behavior arousal which causes him to get overstimulated. Since he needs an EXPERIENCED owner with no children, he should be a high energy guy with someone to ease him into transition. Please, offer to FOSTER or ADOPT ELLIS and give him a home where he can just be himself!

02/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Ellis immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Ellis remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, chirping attention. Reaction to touch: Ellis avoids the touch, waits for his moment and then pounces on the assessor’s hand then nips and pins it to the ground attempting to retreat with it. Placement determination: Experience / no child Ellis is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal, so that interactions can be ended before Ellis becomes overstimulated. Many of these behaviors seen may completely eliminate soon after neutering, or diminish it to a manageable frequency. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. Additional note: Ellis is an active young cat who would benefit from increased mental and physical stimulation to appropriately direct his energy. We recommend fishing pole toys and feeding puzzles. Due to his energy level and overstimulation in the kennel environment, we recommend moving Ellis into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
