But, she’s more lovely lass than diva–rubbing ever so gently on your arm and sniffing your hair as she leans in for a gentle head butt. A pretty, pretty girl, destined for stardom!

I came into the shelter as a stray on 02-Dec-2017.

Elita is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Elita, and believe that she would be suitable for most homes.

Upon intake, Elita was hiding her head in the corner of the carrier. Elita allowed slow petting and all handling. Elita was in a crouched position but very quiet.
Basic Information:: Elita was found as a stray so information on her is limited to intake behavior and finder information.
How is this cat around strangers?: The finder says that Elita is docile and friendly.
How is this cat around other cats?: The finder says Elita was striking through the carrier at her cats at home.
How is this cat around dogs?: The finder says Elita was striking at her dog through the carrier.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Elita was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – tense but compliant for exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/3/17 Crouched in litter box, eyes dilated. Shifted backwards when door opened. Initially leaned away from touch, then allowed and leaned into cheek rubs, some lip licking. Sprayed thunderease. 12/4/17 Resting on bedding in top cubby, soft posture, eyes a bit dilated. Seemed unsure. Lay in place when door opened, leaned into pets, really seemed to like throat rubs. Extended neck, closed eyes, purred. Sniffed treats, didn’t eat.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Elita remains neutral, sitting upright by the front during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Elita shows interest, alert with soft eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Elita engages the front with ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Elita leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates the petting.
Reaction to being picked up:: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet
