*** SAFE 12/15/17 *** Come on EILEEN!!! Striking calico lady is 2 years old and spayed. Needs a patient purrson to help calm her fears and bring her out of her shell!
Manhattan Center
Hello, my name is Eileen. My animal id is #15572. I am a desexed female calico cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 06-Dec-2017.
Eileen is at risk for behavioral reasons. She is a very fearful girl, displaying related behaviors when she was collected by police officers, and also here in the shelter. For this reason she is seeking placement only with a New Hope partner. We have no medical concerns for Eileen, she appears to be a healthy adult cat.
My medical notes are…

Details on my behavior are…
Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
KNOWN HISTORY:: Eileen was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Growling, yowling. Very stressed – would not allow any handling.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/7/17 In den, started hissing and deep growling on approach. Growled louder when door opened. Reached out and struck assess-a-hand when offered treats. Poked head out after door closed, eyes fully dilated. Sprayed thunderease.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Eileen remains tense, hiding in the cat den during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Eileen becomes alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Eileen looks around in the cat den and began to hiss.
Reaction to touch:: While attempting to pet Eileen hisses, growls and strikes at the assessor’s hand, avoiding any contact.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Bold,Independent
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : New hope only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Eileen is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
