***SAFE 05/24/17***TWO YEARS OLD…GOOD BEHAVIOR RATING…Meet Eco: This sweet cat loves to spend most her time with her own thoughts, leisurely relaxing the day away. She does not mind affection but is perfectly without it. She would most likely enjoy spending most of her time sleeping in a nice warm basket. She currently has a mammary tumor that is probably causing her a lot of pain and will need to be surgically removed. Can you help Eco get the care she needs so she can back to her old self?

05/21/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Eco was brought in as a stray, so information on her behavior in her previous home is not available. She did not allow handling during intake and remained by the back of her carrier, hissing whenever petting is attempted. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – allows all handling, no aggression EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Eco was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Eco looks at the assessor momentarily and then turns away. Reaction to cage door opening: Eco meows softly and remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Eco meows when hand is extended and accepts gentle petting on her head. When touched along her body, her meow stretches out and she appears uncomfortable. She doesn’t seem to mind being pet on her head, however. Reaction to being picked up: Eco shifts away to avoid being picked up and whines. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cannot evaluate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Timid BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Please note that this cat has a severe medical condition so we may not be seeing any true behavior and behavior may change when the cat’s medical condition improves. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Eco tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to her discomfort in the care center, we recommend any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
