09/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Eclair was surrendered to the shelter by his previous owner, but we have no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was tense during his initial medical examination, and has been hiding in his cat den. He could not be coaxed out for a behavior evaluation, and retreated from interaction. Reaction to assessor: Eclair is in his cat den. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains in den. Reaction to touch: The assessor turns the den so she can see Eclair. He is tense, eyes wide. He retreats from the assessor’s outstretched hand and does not allow any touch or interaction. Placement determination: New Hope Only Eclair is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
