Hello, my name is Ecko. My animal id is #12825. I am a male gray tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 16-Nov-2017.
Ecko is at risk due to behavior, New Hope determination. Ecko has not tolerated any handling while in the care center and will growl, charge, and hiss when you come near the kennel. There are no known behavior concerns for Ecko at this time.

Cat is a RED behavior. Could not get a COMBO done and did NOT set up for a tech check. COMBO to be done during surgery.

Upon intake Ecko allowed most handling. He allowed counselor to collar however when attempting to remove from the carrier he became somewhat tense and began to growl. No further handling was performed to reduce stress.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Ecko was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake Ecko allowed most handling. He allowed counselor to collar however when attempting to remove from the carrier he became somewhat tense and began to growl.

Reaction to assessor:: Ecko remains tense, sitting upright hissing by the front of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Ecko hisses, growls, and swats when spoken to.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Ecko does not allow the cage door to open, will reach out to swat.
Reaction to touch:: Ecko unable to perform do to behavior.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Ecko is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
