10/23/16 17:26 Dustin is a 12 year old cat who was brought to the ACC because his owner was recently hospitalized. He was growling inside of his carrier, and shrunk back when counselor attempted to pet. Counselor did not attempt collaring. Clients who brought Dustin in said that he growled, hissed, and swatted when they were trying to put him into the carrier but that normally when they would visit with him he was relaxed and would allow petting.

Reaction to assessor: Dustin looks neutral, lying down on his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Dustin remains relaxed body posture, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Dustin leans into the assessor’s hand then stands with tail up and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. Placement determination: Average Dustin interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
