Details on my behavior are…
Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
KNOWN HISTORY:: Drogon was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: tense but tolerated exam
Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged
Reaction to assessor:: Drogon comes to the front of his kennel and meows at assessor.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Drogon rubs his head on the kennel door. He continues to meow and solicit attention as assessor speaks to him.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Drogon remains in the front of the kennel and continues to solicit attention.
Reaction to touch:: Drogon head butts assessors hand and leans into hand for chin rubs. He allows petting all over and demands more petting when assessor stops. He becomes slightly over stimualated during assessment but enjoys all petting.
Reaction to being picked up:: Drogon is slightly tense when picked up but remains calm in the assessors arms until put back into his kennel. He continues to solicit attention after handling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Lively
VOCAL:: Talkative
CHARACTER TYPE: : Social,Sweet,Affectionate,Demanding
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Overstimulation,Kitten rough play
Potential challenges comments:: Rough Play- Drogon solicits attention and tolerates petting, but may play roughly. He is a high-energy cat that tends to put his or her teeth on skin. Although this appears to be motivated by play and attention, it is important to note that this behavior occurs and that he may also be easily overstimulated. We recommend daily rigorous play with fishing pole-type toys and ending play sessions before Drogon becomes overstimulated or if he begins to target human hands or feet. We also recommend using puzzle feeders to keep Drogon engaged and to exercise his brain in addition to his body. Drogon’s behavior appears suitable for an adopter with an average amount of experience, provided the adopter is aware of typical kitten behavior and is able to comfortably manage rough play. Overstimualation-Drogon is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Drogon becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Average
Behavior Asilomar: H – Healthy
RECOMMENDATIONS:: No young children
Recommendations comments:: Drogon interacts with the observer and appreciates attention, but he has a tendency to demand attention and play rough, sometimes causing him to put his teeth on skin. His behavior remains suitable for an adopter with an average amount of experience, provided the adopter is aware of these behaviors and is able to comfortably manage them. Though we believe this cat is displaying behaviors appropriate for new or experienced cat parents, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Drogon interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
