I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 07/24/2017 from NY 11354, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-105399.

Basic Information: Dora is a female cat who was surrendered with her housemate Gus, due to personal problems of their previous owner. Socialization: Around strangers Dora is shy for a few minutes and plays gently. Dora has lived with children of all ages, around them he is relaxed and playful. Dora has lived with her housemate Gus who she is relaxed and affectionate towards. Dora is fearful of dogs and will run away when she hears them. Behavior: Dora has never bitten another person or animal but will often scratch on the furniture. Dora is relaxed when riding in a car. Dora’s previous owner did not attempt to give Dora a bath so it is unknown how she will react to that event. Dora enjoys being brushes, picked up/held, and doesn’t mind being disturbed while resting/sleeping. Dora will isn’t bothered when being placed in a carrier or having her nails trimmed For a New Family to Know: Dora is described as friendly and playful with a high activity level. When at home Dora will follow around her owners and likes to play with string and catnip toys. Dora was kept indoors only and was fed dry food. Dora is litter box trained and used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Dora used a scratching post made of rough rope and carpet. Intake Behavior: Dora was curious during intake and had a loose body. Dora allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures.

She likes to follow her owners and enjoys playing with string and catnip toys MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Allows exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/26/17 Crouched in front of kennel, tail wrapped around body and ears forward. She vocalizes softly when spoken to then backs away when I open the kennel door. Tolerates petting along head and body while lowering herself and turning to watch the bear-claw, ears flat. Keeps trying to sniff the scratcher. Curious but unsure. Needs more time to adjust. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Dora was crouched at the front of the cage with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dora backs away slowly into her litter box and lip licks at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Dora meows softly then rises up and watches the assessor. Reaction to touch: Dora leans forward to sniff the assessor then meows and rubs up for attention. Her body perks up when pet, she head butts and enjoys being pet all over her body. Reaction to being picked up: Dora was a bit tense when picked up, but she remained calm and allowed all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Affectionate, Sweet BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Dora interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
