DOLCE – 14923
Safe - 12-12-2017 Manhattan Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
*** SAFE 12/12/17 *** DOLCE was dumped by her owner because she has an issue with one eye which the shelter says may be iridial melanoma. The only way to diagnose this correctly is to remove the eye. Dolce needs a full eval by an opthalmologist who can decide if this is the case. DOLCE is nervous in the shelter and needs someone who can help her get the care she needs. She is already spayed and hoping to be out of the shelter and to a vet asap.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 29-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.
Original Location: 10023
Dolce is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Dolce will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. there are no behavior concerns for Dolce at this time, average determination.
My medical notes are…
Weight: 16.1 lbs
[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age:6 reported Microchip noted on Intake? n History : o surrender. Right eye changed color ‘suddenly’ Subjective: Observed Behavior -meows, allows exam, scared Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =220 R =wnl BCS 7/9 EENT: OD very melanotic iris compatible with iridial melanoma ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: clean teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA,, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: reported spayed MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment; possible iridial melanoma Prognosis:good with surgery, fair without Plan: recommend NH placement and enucleation. unfortunately the only way to diagnose iridial melanoma for sure is to biopsy the eye by removing it. This is usually curative. Many ophthalmologists recommend monitoring the eye for changes in appearance before surgery but since the history indicates a sudden change, I would recommend removal
