Attempt made to check for spay scar. Cat was hissing and growling when placed in towel wrap. Cat became even more fractious when attempt made to touch stomach. Sedation would be needed to check for spay scar. Per 1173, cat will remain as unaltered. If placed, then sedation could be used to tech check and to look for spay scar.

01/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dizzle was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was fractious upon intake when her carrier door was opened and did not allow handling. She was very friendly during her initial medical exam at first, chirping and allowed petting, but she quickly turned around and swiped at the handler and gave a warning nip. Reaction to assessor: Dizzle was lying and and was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dizzle slow blinks and the end of her tail starts to flicker. Reaction to cage door opening: Dizzle remains motionless, but opens her eyes. Reaction to touch: Dizzle appreciates petting on her head, leans over, begins to purr, and closes her eyes. When touched on her lower back, she grabs the assessor’s hand with both paws and nuzzles her head onto it. When attempted to pet her on her back again, she will meow and grab the hand to nip. She will continue to allow petting on her head; she rolls over and purrs loudly. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Dizzle tolerates attention and petting, but may dislike being touched on certain areas of her body. She really seems to appreciate petting on her head, but will give warnings when pet on her lower back. Due to her tendency to nip when touched on those areas, we feel that this cat will do best in a home without children. 1/28 Update: Dizzle has been displaying social and friendly behaviors, but is easily agitated when touched on certain areas of her body. She will quickly turn around and hiss and/or swipe. Because of this behavior, she is not appropriate for adoptions at this time. Based on her reaction to touch on areas other than her head, we recommend placement into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
