*** SAFE 10/24/17 ** Divo is a white and gray DSH male who was neutered before coming into the shelter. He has no known health issues or injuries and has not seen a vet recently. Divo was adopted from ACC in 2008 and had been in the home since then. Divo’s owner moved to a location that does not allow pets and for this reason he was surrendered.

Hello, my name is Divo. My animal id is #9006. I am a desexed female white cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 9 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 06-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving.
Divo 9006 is at risk for his medical condition, including an upper respiratory infection (URI), gingivitis, and obese. Please see the veterinary notes for further details and clarification. Behaviorally, she remains calm and warms up to attention. She will head-butt and roll around, but she may dislike being picked up. She is suitable for an adopter with an average amount of cat experience.

KNOWN HISTORY: Divo retreats when strangers come over but slowly warms up over time. She’s respectful around children and has never been around other cats or dogs. Her owner describes her as being mellow, shy and aloof with a medium activity level. She was tolerant when bathed, allows being brushed and didn’t mind being picked up or placed in a carrier. She’s litter box trained and likes to play with balls and toys. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Amenable to petting and exam, liked to be pet, got upset when tried to remove some matts around hind end, tech did have a more difficult time taking out of cage. Cage Condition: Cage is recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: Divo was relaxed and grooming herself inside her cubby. Reaction when softly spoken to: Divo makes eye contact with the assessor then rolls over on her side and starts to knead. Reaction to cage door opening: Divo lip licks then leans away from the front of the kennel. Reaction to touch: Divo sniffs the assessor’s hand then slowly in and accepts gentle petting on her cheeks. She gives head butts, rolls around, then perks up when pet along her back. Reaction to being picked up: Divo tenses up and starts to whine when picked up. She lip licks, looks around frantically then gets antsy and leaps back into the kennel. ACS reported decreased appetite for 1-2 days, ate some tuna this morning S/O: BARH. Attention seeking. Allows all handling. Dry food available, untouched, ate some tuna fish EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge HL: No sneezing, normal thoracic auscultation A: Decreased appetite P: Rec mirtazapine 1/4 tab PO tonight. Monitor appetite. Good prognosis
Monitor appetite- ASC reported decreased appetite, mirtazapine given yesterday S/O: BARH. Attention seeking. Appears to have eaten a small amount of dry food overnight, ate well when offered wet food EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge HL: No sneezing A: Obese, decreased appetite resolved at this time P: Continue to monitor while at BACC. Good prognosis
HX: possible decreased appetite, on mirtazapine PO BAR, hydrated, appears to have eaten well overnight per kennel staff. EENT: clear au/ou H/L: nsf ABD: benign MSI: nsf Neuro: nsf A; appears to be eating better P: continue to monitor appetite/attitude.
Hematochezia noted on rounds board History: Intake 10/7-obese and gingivitis. Decreased appetite since 10/12 and was given one dose of mirtazapine-appetite seems to be improving over time. S/O: BAR. No c/s/v/d noted in cage. EENT: No nasal or ocular d/c L: No c/s A: Overweight Gingivitis Hx decreased appetite-improving over time One episode hematochezia 10/21 P: Monitor for hematochezia and appetite tomorrow CTM as needed while at BACC Excellent prognosis

No c/v/d noted in cage. Not eating food and sneezing during cage exam. No bm noted in cage. EENT: No ocular d/c. Serous nasal d/c bilaterally. How is this cat around strangers?: Divo will retreat to a different room when guests enter and remains shy for a little bit. After he adjusts he will approach and come around people.
How is this cat around children?: Divo has spent small amounts of time with children and typically keeps to himself. He is respectful around children and has no aggressive behaviors.
How is this cat around other cats?: Divo has never been around cats.
How is this cat around dogs?: Divo has never been around dogs.
Behavior Notes: Divo is described as being mellow, shy and aloof with a medium activity level. His owner has bathed him and claims he is tolerant in the tub. They have not trimmed his nails but they have brushed him. Divo allows his owners to pick him up and place him in a carrier with ease.

For a New Family to Know: Divo likes to follow his family around when they are home and be in the same room as them. He likes to play with balls and toys he can swat. He has been an indoor cat, sleeps on his cat bed and eats dry food. He is litter box trained using an uncovered box with clumping litter. He scratches on fabric and would benefit from scratching posts.
