07/30/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Name and A#: Diamond A1119923 Date: 7/30/2017 KNOWN HISTORY: Diamond came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: During her initial medical exam, Diamond attempted to bite and scratch and had to be examined through a net. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Diamond is hiding in her den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Diamond did not respond to assessor. Her body is tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Diamond remained tense and backed away slightly and turned to look away from assessor. Reaction to touch: In response to light touch on her side, Diamond flinched and backed away, body tense and licking her lips. She turned to stare at the assessor with wide, dilated eyes. Reaction to being picked up: Did not attempt. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE:, Skittish, Fearful RECOMMENDATIONS: – Placement with a New Hope partner _X_ New Hope Only Diamond is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to strike and bite, and she is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
