***SAFE 05/28/17*** A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!! Sweet Diamond lived with her owner since kittenhood. She cried in her carrier all the way to being dumped at the ACC for moving. This little 6 yr old girl is gentle and affectionate and wants to be adopted where she can relax and be loved again. PLEASE RESERVE THIS KITTY BY NOON!!

Diamond A1112511 is at risk for behavior – Low body and her ears are pinned against her head. She lip licks when pet on her head and grumbles when touched along her body. Tolerates attention and remains immobile, but is appears very uncomfortable

PE: Partial visual exam only due to behavior – hiding in feral den. QAR. No c/s. Exam & surgery performed by Dr. 0587 Feline spay Anesthesia – 0.15mL Telazol induction. Intubated. Isoflurane/O2 maint. Sx. – Routine OVH. Ventral midline incision. Subcuticular closure with absorbable suture. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision. 0.76mL Simbadol injectable and 0.55mL Onsior for pain management.

05/19/17 14:23 Basic info: Diamond is a 6 yr. old DSH female cat that was surrendered to the ACC due to the fact that she is moving and cannot take her with them. She stated that she has had Diamond since she was a kitten. Diamond has no known medical conditions. Socialization: Owner stated that when around strangers Diamond is shy for a few minutes but will warm up. She has spent time around Children and is usually tolerant of them. When playing with adults Diamond is gentle. She has spent time around other cats and is relaxed and affectionate toward them. She has never swpent5 time around dogs so it is unknown how she will react. Behavior: Owner stated that when on the way to the ACC in the car Diamond was crying and meowing. Owner stated that she has never given Diamond a bath or trimmed her nails. She likes to be brushed. Diamond isn’t bothered if she is held or put in the carrier. She also isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while she is sleeping. For a new family to know: Owner described Diamond as friendly affectionate and mellow with a medium activity level. When at home4 Diamond will follow her owner around. She likes to play with balls and string. She has been kept indoors only and eats dry food. Diamond is very much litter box trained and never has accidents in the home. She is used t5o a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Owner stated that Diamond will scratch her nails on the carpet. She has a scratching post in the home made of rough rope and carpet.

KNOWN HISTORY: Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward strangers: Shy for a few minutes but will warm up Behavior toward children: Spent time around children and was tolerant of them. Behavior toward cats: Spent time around other cats and is relaxed and affectionate toward them Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly affectionate and mellow with a medium activity level. Other notes: Enjoys being brushed and doesn’t mind being held or out in a carrier. She likes to play with balls, string and will follow her owner around the house. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Fractious, hissing, urinating, crying. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 05/21/17 Hiding under bogus paper when I approach. She remains tense the paper as the kennel door opens and hisses when the bear-claw reaches towards her, whiskers back and ears flattened. Needs more time to adjust. I gave her a hidey box and sprayed feliway. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Diamond was curled up tight in her litter box with her head lowered. Reaction when softly spoken to: Diamond’s ears being flat and she slowly turns her head away when spoken to softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Diamond lip licks and lowers her head into the litter box. Reaction to touch: Diamond’s eyes become fixated on the assessor’s hand and she starts lip licking when pet on her head. She tolerates petting, grumbles when pet along her body and remains completely immobile throughout the interaction. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Diamond tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
