AVERAGE rated DIAMOND would interact gently with children but would rather be pet by them than play with them. She does like to chase balls and she slept in a cat bed in her owner’s room. She warms up at the shelter very easily and likes to be pet.

10/06/16 14:08 Basic information Diamond is a spayed white torbie colored DSH with no known medical conditions. Diamond is being surrendered because her owner passed away. Socialization and Behavior Diamond has lived with children ages ranging from 10 months to 15 years old and was respectful and tolerant with them., Diamond didn’t play with the children but would let them pet her. Around strangers Diamond is friendly and outgoing. Diamond did not live with any other cats or dogs and behavior is not known for interacting with them. During car rides Diamond will cry and meow the whole way. Diamond enjoys being brushed and picked up and held. Diamond wasn’t bothered when being placed in a carrier. For the new family to know Diamond was described as friendly, mellow independent and quiet with medium activity level. Diamond enjoyed playing with balls and cashing them around.. When home with Diamond she would follow the owner around seeking attention. Diamond eats dry cat food. Diamond is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box. Diamond didn’t have a scratching post and didn’t scratch on anything in the house. When its time for bed Diamond likes to sleep on the her cat bed in the owners room. Behavior during intake. Diamond was talkative during the intake. Diamond allowed to be scanned and collared with a loose body. She enjoyed being pet by the counselor and allowed to be picked up and held with no problem. While in Kennel Diamond was very affectionate and head butted counselors hand. Diamond seeks attention and loves to be pet.

Diamond’s previous owner reports she has lived with children and was respectful and tolerant of them. She wasn’t playful with the children, but allows them to pet her. She is friendly and outgoing around strangers and enjoys being brushed, picked up, and held. She was described as friendly, mellow, independent, and quiet with a medium activity level. She usually follows the owner around at home and seeks attention. Reaction to assessor: Diamond was crouched over and had a low body posture upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Diamond lip licks and meows softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Diamond remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Diamond begins to warm up with a slow and gentle approach. She allows petting all over and arches her back, soliciting attention. Reaction to being picked up: Diamond was a bit tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Average Diamond interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She may need time to warm up to her new home, but this cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
