07/09/17 15:39 Dell is a one year old neutered brown tabby. He was adopted from the ACC around 8 months ago. He has no injuries or health problems that the finder is aware of. Around strangers, Dell is shy for a few minutes will he adjusts to them. After, he will come out and rub against the person’s legs and head bunt them. He has spent some time with a young child and loved to play fetch with her when she came over. He is very gentle in play with both adults and children. He has not lived with another animal before so his behavior is unknown. He has not bitten a person or another animal. Dell is reported to scratch up couches and carpets and likes to try to get into trash cans. It was also stated that Dell may kick out litter when using the bathroom but has no accidents. He was quiet and relaxed during the car ride to the center. Dell is reported to struggle a lot when given a bath. He is not bothered by having his nails trimmed, being brushed out, and being held. He will struggle at times when being placed in a carrier. Dell is described as a sweet, lovable, and playful kitten with a high activity level. He loves to play fetch with balls, feathers, and mice toy. He also enjoys lounging around and hanging around on the window. He was kept indoors only but would venture out whenever the window was open. He eats dry Meow MIx and loves to eat shrimp and lobster. He is use to going in an open litterbox with clumping clay. He was given a horizontal scratching post with rope but also scratched up the carpet and couch.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived indoors but ventures out when the window is open Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward strangers: Shy for a few minutes then warms up Behavior toward children: Spent time with a young child and loved to play fetch Behavior toward cats: Unknown Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: None Energy level/descriptors: Sweet, lovable, and playful kitten with a high activity level. Other notes: He scratches up couches/carpets and likes to try to get into trash cans. He doesn’t mind having his nails trimmed, being brushed out, and being held. He struggles at times when being placed in a carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Fractious, hissing, scratching, trying to bite ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/10/17 Lying laterally in back of kennel, ears forward. He rolls over as I reach towards him, belly in the air. He flinches his head back when I touch him and keeps flinching and leaning out of the way to avoid being touched further. Retreats through portal with tail down with continued interaction. 07/11/17 At front of kennel as I approach, head-butting kennel door. He remains in the front when I open the kennel door, then flinches back with squinted eyes when I touch his head. He’s not interested in temptations treats today but likes the meat gogurt. I clicker train him and reward him each time he comes forward. After a couple of minutes he head-butts my hand and I reward him each time he head-butts or allows petting along his back. He’s leaning in and raising his tail by the end of the session . EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Dell comes forward to greet the assessor then gently rubs his body against the cage cover. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dell continues soliciting attention and reaches out towards the assessor for attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Dell slowly moves to the back of the cage. Reaction to touch: Dell lowers his head and slowly dodges the assessor’s hand when approached. He closes his eyes when touched, keeps his tail lowered but slowly warms up to touch. After a few minutes of attention his body perks up, he gently head butts and brushes his body against assessor’s hand. He occasionally turns around and focuses on the assessor’s hand when touched on his lower back, but doesn’t display any further reaction Reaction to being picked up: Dell was calm/relaxed when picked up and allows all handling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Affectionate RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Dell may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
