***SAFE 07/18/16*** DELILAH DUMPED DUE TO “CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR!” The 2 YEAR old, already SPAYED girl is NOT bothered by fireworks or any loud noise…but the fact that the former owner’s son had a toy that made a noise mimicking a panther, made her hide and scratch wood(doesn’t every cat??) under the sink! So taking the toy, and tossing it in the trash never crossed their minds, but taking their pet to a HIGH KILL SHELTER did!!!!! She’s not been around cats or dogs but was good with kids….just not kids annoying toys!! So they give her a RESCUE ONLY rating and making it even harder on her! Contact a New Hope rescue and please…. if you own a loud toy… TOSS IT!! THEN OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT THIS GORGEOUS GIRL!

07/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owners Delilah is friendly with everyone and is great with children. Recently the owner’s son brought home a toy that mimics the sound of a panther and it startles Delilah. She’ll run around the house and start scratching at the wood underneath the sink. Normally she is bothered by loud noise or fireworks. Delilah enjoys being held and likes string and feather toys. Reaction to assessor: Delilah hisses and lowers her body as you approach her kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Delilah is alert and lip licks with eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Delilah remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Delilah’s ears bend flat and she swats and charges forward as you approach. She continues to hiss and currently doesn’t allow any handling. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Delilah is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, bite and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
