Name and A#: 1105223 DECOUPAGE Date: 3/6/2017 KNOWN HISTORY: Previously lived with: Admitted as a stray so no known history is available Litter box training: Y MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – tense, nervous and clinically ill EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cat is hiding behind litter box Reaction to assessor: Totally unresponsive Reaction when softly spoken to: Ignores completely Reaction to cage door opening: Looked up but did not move Reaction to touch: Allowed assess-a-hand on head and body ,but remained in a tense position Reaction to being picked up: Would not allow pick up ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful- Decoupage has displayed fearful behavior during his stay in the care center and appears shut down. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Please note that Decoupage is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Decoupage tolerates some attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Doesn’t appear that food is eaten.
