DARTH – A1082788
Gone - 8-12-2016 Manhattan
***GONE 08/12/16*** DARTH IS SOCIAL & AFFECTIONATE!! A staff member writes: Come to the dark side, we have snuggles! Darth is a very sweet and social young guy who is ready to find a new galaxy to rule. He can be a little sassy when it come to getting into a cat carrier, but what guy with jedi mind powers wants to get in a box to go see the vet?! Darth would do best in a home with experienced cat parents who understand that he may have his sassy moments, but know that they will be in for a lifetime of cuddle-time with this little guy.

08/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
**UPDATE 08/10/16** Darth is social and affectionate, and appears to appreciate petting and attention. His behavior with his caretakers in the care center has been social and tolerant, and while interacting with the enrichment staff, he has demonstrated behaviors appropriate for a first time cat parent. However, due to his reaction to having his water refreshed and his willingness to strike out when staff had attempted to place him into a carrier, we feel that placement with experienced cat adopters is in Darth’s best interest. Date: 07/28/16 Darth was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. When he was found, he hid by the rear of his carrier. However, he allowed the counselors to touch him upon intake and allowed them to handle him. He was reported to be nervous during his initial medical exam, especially when he was being handled, but was easily distracted when food was given to him. Reaction to assessor: Darth was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Darth rubs his head on the cage door and squeezes his nose between the bars. Reaction to cage door opening: Darth immediately rushes to the opening to greet the assessor. Reaction to touch: Darth head-butts, begins to purr, and leans in for petting. He rolls over and is extremely affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Darth remains calm when handled, but tries to wiggle out to explore. Behavior Determination: Beginner Darth interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
