Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Danielle was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cat hiding under, cage rearranged, no change, recently cleaned, other Reaction to assessor: Danielle was hiding in her feral den at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Danielle was pressed up against the back of the den, watching the assessor with wide eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Danielle remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Danielle lip licks and remains immobile when rubbed on her rear. She doesn’t come forward when coaxed, her body is tense/ stiff and she is very wary of her surroundings. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 02/16/17 Hiding in den, quiet, couldn’t coax out with treats, chicken or wet food. Able to give some butt scratches, doesn’t react. She is observing from within, can see her through the porthole. Will monitor today to see if she ventures out of den. Doesn’t look like she ate or used litter box overnight. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Very shy, wary, allows handling with slow approach and towel restraint. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Experienced, adult home only – Danielle tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his/her new home and family at his/her own pace.
