Upon intake, Dallas was not handled. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: growling, hissing, attempting to bite and will flee. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Dallas is hiding in her den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dallas remains in her den, looks at assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Dallas remains motionless, appears tense. Reaction to touch: Dallas swats at the assessor and does not allow handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent, Skittish POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Please note that Dallas is being treated for an upper-respiratory infection at the time of the assessment, and that this may affect the behaviors shown. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Placement with a New Hope partner? Behavior observations _x_ New Hope Only Dallas is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
