ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Country was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/30/17- Observed Behavior – frightened, hissing, needed towel restraint for exam/treatment. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/30/17- At the back behind bedding, asleep with head in corner. Woke and looked up when spoken to, soft eyes and body. Ate offered treats, then leaned and arched into pets, purred, lifted rear for butt scratches. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Country remains tense, crouched position at the back during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Country lifts head with soft eyes and body. Reaction to cage door opening: Country remains immobile in place. Reaction to touch: Country slowly leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs, and began to appreciate the petting by lifting his lower back. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Country tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
