SAFE 5/9/18 – COSMO was brought in by someone who said they saw 3 men kicking the cat. He is experiencing open mouth breathing, drooling and did not want to stand up. He needs immediate placement. Cosmo is friendly and docile and needs a furever home.

Observed Behavior -docile, easy going; ambulatory with no obvious lameness but prefers to lie down for belly rubs/pets

BCS 4.75/9
EENT: OU-mild mucoserous discharge at medial canthus, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam:mm pk, sl tacky; CRT <2 sec; adult dentitia with mild tartar/staining; small (<0.5 cm) wound on lower lip near midline but no other signs of oral trauma
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: eupnic, clear lung sounds, no murmurs/arrhythmias
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: male intact
MSI:
-ambulatory x 4 with no lameness or ataxia noted
-mild to moderate amount of black discharge staining fur diffusely, possibly engine grease vs tar?
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal:grossly normal
Assessment
1. h/o possible head trauma
2. small wound on lower lip
Prognosis:good
Plan:
-convenia 0.4 ml SQ
-monitor overnight in medical, okay to go to adoptions tomorrow if doing well
