Hello, my name is Copper. My animal id is #16450. I am a male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 19-Dec-2017.

Scanned neg – MC not placed due to behavior, will be placed at surgery History : Police intake, no information available Subjective: Alert in kennel, watchful Observed Behavior – Strikes and growls when I move my hands near. Placed in Freeman net for limited exam. Objective BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 7/9 EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Did not perform PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Male intact MSI: Ambulatory x 4, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: Apparently healthy on limited exam Prognosis: Good Plan: Neuter, give MC and CT at that time SURGERY: Okay for surgery 1088

How is this cat around strangers?: The cat was a little upset and growled at the PO and also growled when been placed into the cage. The cat did not tried to lunged.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Copper was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – Strikes and growls when I move my hands near. Placed in Freeman net for limited exam.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Copper remains tense, hiding in the cat den during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Copper becomes alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Copper remains stiff in place.
Reaction to touch:: Copper does not allow the touch, hisses and growls from inside the den at the assessor’s hand.

The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
