COCO – A1081855
Safe - 7-27-2016 Brooklyn
**SAFE 07/27/16** COCO WAS DUMPED AFTER BEING WITH THE NEW OWNERS FOR JUST 2 MONTHS! This 12 year old had been adopted from NSAL (North Shore Animal League) and in the former owner’s care for just 2 months until they decided to move and those plans did NOT include COCO! She is already SPAYED but she had received a RESCUE ONLY rating because of her fear of the unknown. She did not interact with children in the home and had never been around cats or dogs. So now this sweet girl will need the aid of a New Hope rescue and YOU! With your offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT, you can set this girl on a path to her new life! Contact a New Hope rescue TODAY!

07/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Coco is aggressive, territorial and hisses around strangers. She has spent time with children at home and would hiss if you come towards and try to pet her. When playing with an adult she is gentle and she’s had no experience with other cats or dogs. She scratches at the furniture, cries during car rides and struggles when being picked up. Her owner describes her as being affectionate with a medium activity level. She loves playing with chase toys, string and catnip. Reaction to assessor: Coco sits in the back of the litter box with her eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Coco lowers her head into the litter box and tries to avoid contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Coco remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Coco turns away from contact and has a tense/ stiff body when pet. She tolerates petting briefly before hissing and swatting. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Coco is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
