KNOWN HISTORY: Cochella was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Calm, allows full exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 08/10/17 Lying in litter box with a tense body, ears titled. He leans in for petting and allows touch along his head and body, raising his rear as my hand passes along his back. He relaxes with further petting and stands up to come forward, raising his tail. Becomes more and more comfortable as the interaction continues, begins to roll around kennel floor and head-butt my hand as it comes towards his head. Very sweet, appreciates attention. Sprayed feliway. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: Cochella was sprawled out and resting on his kuranda bed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cochella glances over at the assessor with soft eyes and didn’t come over when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Cochella turns his head away and faces the wall. Reaction to touch: Cochella turns to sniff the assessor then leans in for rubs and allows petting all over his body. He hops down from his bed and gently rubs up against the assessors’ hand. His body loosens up after a few soft pets, he rolls around and gives head butts. Reaction to being picked up: Cochella is calm, relaxed and allows all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Affectionate BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Cochella interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
