SAFE 8/31/17 **Purringly Sweet 9-Week Old Kitten – CLUE – With Rectal Prolapse NEEDS FOLLOW UP CARE & PLACEMENT ASAP!**

Clue A1123682 – 9 week old female black/white kitten:
MEDICAL:
Re-exam
History: Intake 8/29 with rectal prolapse. Pursestring placed
Subjective: BARH. Straining to defecate feces FS 5/7. Not eagerly eating. No c/s/v.
Objective
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam: decid teeth, no oral lesions
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: Not ausculted, no c/s
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. distended
U/G: female intact, no vulvar d/c
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, diarrhea around perineum. Perineum is puckered as she is straining to defecate.
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment:
Rectal prolapse-purse string placed 8/29
Plan:
continue miralax
Continue panacur
Gave 3cc lube/warm water enema to break stool up so it could pass easier. After the enema she passed a large amount of feces FS 5/7 and the perineal puckering improved
Recheck tomorrow-consider increasing miralax dose, giving SQ LRS, +/- enema
Prognosis: good

Subjective: rectal prolapse approx 4 cm healthy tissue everted, clean. Applied dextrose 5% to prolase and replaced tissue. made 3-0 pds purse string suture (nylon suture unavailable). sedated 0.05ml telazol , given 0.12 onsior intra-op.
Observed Behavior – purring up until sedation
Evidence of Cruelty seen – n
Evidence of Trauma seen – n
Objective
P = 200 R = wnl BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam: decid teeth
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. kidneys are prominent
U/G: female
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: prolapse, easily replaced
Assessment: rectal prolapse
Plan: monitor , miralax remove purse string in 7 days or so
Prognosis: good
SURGERY:
Temporary waiver due to prolapse–can be spayed once resolved
