Is this cat having litter box issues?NoBasic Information:Cloudy is a 1 year old, cream and gray DSH male. He was not neutered prior to coming into the shelter. His owner got him about one year ago and had to surrender due to her moving to a location that does not allow pets.

How is this cat around strangers?Cloudy is shy when first meeting new people but warms up after adjusting.
How is this cat around children?Cloudy has spent time with kids of various ages and was relaxed and respectful around them.
How is this cat around other cats?Cloudy has not spent time around cats
How is this cat around dogs?Cloudy has not spent time around dogs.
Behavior NotesCloudy’s owner has not been able to bathe him as he struggles to be put in the tub. He also struggles to have his nails trimmed and he will walk away when she tries to brush him.
Bite history:Cloudy has no bite history.
Has this cat ever had any medical issues?NoFor a New Family to KnowCloudy is described as being friendly and affectionate with those he is familiar with, but he is also shy and distant. He likes to follow his owner around when she is home and likes to play with toy mice. He has been an indoor cat and east dry food. He is litter box trained using an uncovered box with clumping litter. He uses a scratching post made from carpet but has also scratched on his owners walls.
Behavior Notes:Cloudy was hissing and swatting at counselor, he did not allow for handling.
Standing in back of kennel, ears flattened and making eye contact. Back is arched and tail is lowered. Fur is pilo-erect along his back and tail. Growls and backs away when spoken to. Very uncomfortable – needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.

Observed Behavior – hissing and growling in cage and lip licking. Tried to net and fled. Very strong and tries to attack when approached. Once netted with sedated for PE

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted
Oral Exam: clean adult dentition, no oral lesions noted
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: MI, 2 testicles descended
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, tore nails in HLs from net
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC
Rec behavioral eval
Soaked broken nails in HLs in nolvasan
Telazol 0.15ml IM sedation for PE
SURGERY: ok to schedule for surgery
