Clementine found her way into a stranger’s house, who kept her for a bit in hopes there was an owner, but none came forward. She has been very nervous in the shelter environment and needs some time to warm up to a new home!

05/07/17 12:44 Finder stated that Clementine was nervous and did not allow to be picked up or pet on the body and would flee when finder would try to do so. Clementine is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter in finders home. Clementine was fed wet food only brand Friskies. Behavior during intake: Clementine was nervous and trying to hide during intake. Counselor was able to transfer from trap to den without any issues but was unable to collar due to animal hiding in the back of the den. Counselor was able to scan for a mc and take a picture without any issues.

Upon intake, Clementine was nervous and trying to hide. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: nervous and tense EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Clementine is lying in the back of the cage Reaction when softly spoken to: Clementine looks at the assessor with wide eyes Reaction to cage door opening: Clementine remains motionless Reaction to touch: Clementine shifts to avoid touch, allows limited handling ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only – Placement with a New Hope partner Behavior observations __ Experienced, Adult Only Clementine tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
