***SAFE 08/14/16*** SECOND CHANCE FOR CHULISA AKA CHUCK – AND TONIGHT SHE IS ON THE PUBLIC LIST! CHULISA also has updated medical on her bio. Someone found this poor kitten in a basement and she was unable to walk. Originally the ACC had stated she was dragging her hind limbs and they were not sure why. But her last medical exam said that her hind limb has become atrophied, which means the muscle has shrunk down and is not working and also she failed to respond to a pinch test They are recommending that she see a specialist who can test her for neuro conditions to see if she is indeed paralyzed or will be able to walk again with medical help. HOWEVER, since CHULISA is scheduled to be killed at 12 noon Saturday, that chance to live and see a medical specialist needs to start with you and end with a New Hope rescue. You will need to contact one and offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT this kitten. FOSTERS do NOT pay for vetting, the pulling rescue will do that. GIVE CHULISA aka CHUCK a CHANCE TO LIVE – SHE IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD. IF YOU NEED RESCUE INFO EMAIL THE HELP DESK AT [email protected] FOR INFO. ACT NOW!

08/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chulisa was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was found in a basement and was unable to walk. She was tense upon intake and did not appear to like being handled and was nervous during her initial medical exam; hissing and trying to flee. During a few visits to check on her condition, she hisses and attempts to pull away, but allowed handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Chulisa was lying down when approached, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Chulisa looks at the assessor and appears tense, but averts her gaze and starts to breathe rapidly. Reaction to cage door opening: Chulisa remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Chulisa was hesitant of contact, but remains in place and allows gentle petting on her head and body. Her ears tilt slightly sideways, but she closes her eyes after a moment and relaxes a little. Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Behavior Determination: Experience Chulisa tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
