11/04/16 16:45 Basic Information Christy is an approximate 7 year old spayed domestic short hair. She is being surrendered because the owner has too many cats. Owner adopted this pet from a family member 3 years ago. Owner stated she has no medical issues. She went to the vet this summer to have her spay surgery. Socialization Christy is friendly around strangers. She has not lived or spent time with kids. She plays in a gentle manner with adults. She lived with 2 male adult cats and one female cat. She was tolerant of the male cats. The other female cat of the home would attack her so she would hide from her. She has never lived or spent time with dogs or any other kind of animal. She has never bitten a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated Christy has no behavior issues and was relaxed during the car ride to our shelter. Owner has never bathed or trimmed Christy’s nails. She enjoys being picked up. She is not bothered if brushed or if disturbed while sleeping. She will become afraid and struggle when being placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know Christy is described as affectionate and friendly with a medium activity level. She likes to rub her face on feet. She will follow her owner around when home. She does not play with toys. She is kept indoors only and sleeps in the kitchen. She was fed Purina indoor cat dry food. Owner filled a bowl once a day. She uses an uncovered cat litter box with clumping style litter in it. She would scratch on a wooden foot board. Behavior during Intake Christy tolerated all handling. She head butted my hand and arched her back when I petted her. No signs of aggression were displayed.

Christy’s previous owner reports she is friendly around strangers. She has not spent time with children, but plays with adults in a gentle manner. She has lived with two male cats and one female cat. She was tolerant of the males, but would hide around the female cat because the female cat would attack her. The owner says she enjoys being picked up and was described as affectionate and friendly, with a medium activity level. She likes to rub her face on feet and will follow the owner around the home. Reaction to assessor: Christy had a low body posture by the back of her kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Christy looks at the assessor with soft eyes and blinks slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Christy perks up a little and slowly gets up, leaning against the wall. Reaction to touch: Christy brushed her body against the wall and head-butts the assessor’s hand. She nudges it with her nose, leans in for petting, and begins to purr. She warms up and approaches the front to interact with the assessor, rolling over. She was very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Christy was slightly tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Average Christy interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
