07/28/16 18:51 Basic information: Chow is a 5 year old spayed female. She was adopted from another shelter 4 years ago. She was surrendered because her previous owner moved and isn’t allowed pets. The last time she went to the vet was 1 year ago. She has no known injuries or health problems. Socialization: Around strangers Chow is friendly and outgoing and gentle when she plays with adults. She lived with another cat and with her she was relaxed and affectionate and gentle at play. Behavior: She has never attempted to bite another person or animal. In car rides she meows. She isn’t bothered if given a bath or if her nails are trimmed and she enjoys having her coat brushed. She isn’t bothered if she is picked up, placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Chow is described as friendly, affectionate, confident, and talkative with a medium activity level. The two things her previous owner liked most about her were; she’s affectionate and playful. When her previous owner was home she would tend to follow her around. She liked to play with balls and stuffed toys. She was kept indoors only and at night she slept on the couch. She ate both wet and dry Blue Buffalo. She is litter box trained and used a hooded litter box and clumping litter. She didn’t scratch. Behavior during intake: Chow had a low crouched body. She allowed me to pet her, collar her and take her pictures. She showed no signs of aggression.

07/31/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, around strangers Chow is friendly and outgoing and gentle when she plays with adults. She lived with another cat and with her she was relaxed and affectionate and gentle at play. She has never attempted to bite another person or animal. In car rides she meows. She isn’t bothered if given a bath or if her nails are trimmed and she enjoys having her coat brushed. She isn’t bothered if she is picked up, placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. Reaction to assessor: Chow continues to hide at the back of the cage (was hiding on approach) Reaction when softly spoken to: Chow continues to hide. Reaction to cage door opening: Chow becomes stiff and alert, and tail flicks. Reaction to touch: Chow hisses briefly, and then hides her face when touched. Behavior Determination: Experienced, no children Chow tolerates some attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
