10/01/16 17:59 Basic Information: Chip is a 3 month old unneutered male DSH that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Chip for the last 2 months but is unable to keep Chip any longer due to no time. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers, Chip is friendly. He has not been around small children or dogs therefore behavior is unknown. Chip comes from a home that had 2 other kittens in it & owner stated that he was relaxed and affectionate with the other kittens. Chip has never bit another animal or person while in the care of the owner. Behavior: In the car, Chip was relaxed. Owner has never tried to bathe him, trim his nails, brush his coat, or disturb him while sleeping therefore behavior is unknown. When being put in a carrier, Chip was not bothered by it. For a New Family to Know: Chip is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and quiet with a medium activity level. In the home, he liked to follow the owner around and sit on the owner. He enjoys playing with balls, string toys, and stuffed animals. Chip was kept indoors only & is litter box trained. He used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter in the home. Owner had a scratching post in the home made of rough rope that Chip would use frequently. Behavior during intake: Chip was at the front of the carrier during intake. I was able to scan him for a mc, collar him and take his picture without any issues.

Chip came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who described him as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and quiet with a medium activity level. In the home, he liked to follow the owner around and sit on the owner. He enjoys playing with balls, string toys, and stuffed animals. Chip was kept indoors only & is litter box trained. Owner had a scratching post in the home made of rough rope that Chip would use frequently. Reaction to assessor: Chip approaches the assessor, rubbing on door and soliciting attention. Reaction when softly spoken to: Chip continues to solicit attention and rubbing on cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Chip remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Chip continues to solicit petting and attention. Reaction to pick up: Chip is calm and allows handling. Placement Determination: Beginner Chip interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Chip is exhibiting behavior appropriate for new cat parents.
