SAFE 7/28/17 These housemates are a little shy at the Brooklyn Care Center, and would be happiest in an experienced kitty home where they can adjust and explore at their own pace.
3 yr old boy LILLE and housemate GINGER were brought to the shelter by owner who said he had “too many”. Both these sweeties need a home of their own!

Reaction when softly spoken to: Lille turns towards the assessor, lip licks and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening: Lille flinched then moved to the other side of the double kennel.
Reaction to touch: Lille leans away and closes his eyes when the assessor extends his hand out. He tolerates petting along his head and body, turning his head to watch the assessor’s hand. His body feels tense, ears flatten and he places his paw on the assessor’s hand when he’s had enough.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back
VOCAL: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: Timid
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Fearful – Lille has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Lille may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
