***SAFE 11/01/17***CHILL OUT ON THE COUCH WITH CHILLY…HE CAN’T WAIT TO KEEP YOU COMPANY & COMFY!!! Chilly is a nice, 7 years old, cat that is hoping to find his forever home. Chilly is already neutered, has an ear infection and a possible mass on right ear. He is a bit upset at being in the shelter and needs a furever home where he can get some TLC. BE CHILLY’S HERO BY FOSTERING OR ADOPTING. RESERVE BY NOON TOMORROW.

Hello, my name is Chilly. My animal id is #10003. I am a desexed male brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 17-Oct-2017.
Chilly 10003 is at risk for behavior concerns (experienced determination). He remains neutral around people, but may be hesitant to interact. He eventually warms up to attention, especially when given treats, but he remains tense and focuses on sudden movement or noise around his surroundings. There is no noted medical condition for Chilly at this time, but he may have an ear infection.

BARH scan negative neutered male appx 7 yrs old very nervous, hissing, growling, swating mod tartar ear infection, poss mass on rt ear dirty coat BCS 5/9 NOSF
[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 7yrs Microchip noted on Intake? neg History : Subjective: growling in cage, swatting through cage Observed Behavior – unable to examine- needed net Evidence of Cruelty seen -no Evidence of Trauma seen -no Objective VERY LIMITED VISUAL EXAM BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal or ocular discharge noted. Reported to have possible ear infection and ear mass- cannot visualize H/L: eupnic, unable to ascult cardiac sounds U/G: reported to be neutered CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment reported to be MN reported to have possible ear mass and infection Prognosis: open pending full exam and determination of any illnesses Plan: d/t fractiousness, gave convenia 80mg/ml: 0.4ml SQ rec sedated exam, would consider trazadone 12.5-25mg PO if could pill p prior, but not possible. Intake performed in evening unable to sedate at this time SURGERY: n/a- reported to be neutered

Upon intake Chilly did not allow any handling. He was hissing and swatting at the carrier. His hackles were raised and he was growling at the counselor consistently. Due to his minor injury not much handling was performed.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Subjective: growling in cage, swatting through cage
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/18/17 Resting near front, eyes half open. Sat up when door opened, eyes became dilated. Sniffed assess-a-hand, grumbled quietly, leaned away from pets. Ate offered treats when left alone. Needs more time to acclimate. Sprayed feliway. 10/19/17 Sitting at the front, looking around, eyes dilated. Sniffed hand through the bars. Sat in place when door opened, leaned away from head pets, but allowed body pets. No vocalizing today. Ate offered treats. Sprayed feliway.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Chilly remains neutral, standing by the front during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Chilly remains in place with tail slightly down.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Chilly seems curious, slowly engages with eyes wide open, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Chilly allows and slowly leans into the touch, but at times increases distance. Chilly then walks away from the assessor and sat upright at the back of the cage then focuses on the hand. When attempted to pet again he paws the hand to stop the interaction.
