SAFE 6/12/18 Poor CHIKITA was adopted recently and has now been returned to the shelter where she had hoped to never see again! She is upset as we can imagine and immediate placement would be in her best interest. Please help this beautiful tabby girl today – she is already spayed and ready to go!

Subjective: Alert, walks immediately out of the kennel and sniffs around the exam table.
Observed Behavior – Allows petting but taps tail. Tenses up and starts to yowl at facial exam; yowls more with any restraint, and hisses during auscultation. Restraint for blood draw not possible without sedation due to hissing, yowling and struggling.
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None

BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 8/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Clean adult teeth
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Slightly tense, not distended, no masses palpated
U/G: Female, reported spayed, unable to confirm spay scar due to behavior
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
1. Sedated for blood draw for combo test and for microchipping: Dexdomitor 0.3 ml, and butorphanol 0.1 ml IM – additional 0.1 ml Dexdomitor was given IM. Reversed with Antisedan 0.3 ml IM.
2. Shave abdomen while sedated – a spay tattoo was seen.
3. Recommend weight loss of 3-4 lbs
