A1118177 Chicago – Experienced determination; Displays fearful behaviors in the shelter environment. She crouches and tries to hide behind cage furnishings, tense when approached. Her ears bend back when petting is attempted and hisses. When overwhelmed, she will hiss and strike to avoid contact.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/12/17- Subjective: Body tense, crouches to table, allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/12/17 Hunched low in litter box, face hidden, eyes fully dilated. Flattened ears when pet, held immobile, started to cry. 7/13/17 Hunched low at back of cubby behind bedding, eyes fully dilated. Hid face when door opened, flattened ears and held immobile when pet. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Chicago remains tense body, tucked limbs with head down hiding in her cubby. Reaction to cage door opening: Chicago stiffens up, gazing, facing sideways at the back of the cage. Reaction to touch: Chicago accepts the touch, but no response to the petting and remains immobile in place. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Chicago may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
