03/11/16 11:38hrs Chestnut is described as playful, affectionate and talkative. She was cared for along with her sister Clarissa for the past year and a half. Chestnut has interacted with children aged 11. Chestnut is very tolerant of the children, allowing petting and being carried. She has interacted with the neighbors cats while in her home. She will stare at the cat and then after about an hour, they will sit near each other. BEHAVIOR Chestnut doesn’t mind having her face cleaned or being wiped down. She enjoys being petted and sometimes being brushed. If she doesn’t want to brushed, she will meow and run off. She enjoys climbing onto high areas in the home, sitting outside on the terrace or lying down in the bath tub. She will follow her owner everywhere in the home. Chestnut will come out and investigate when visitors enter the home. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Chestnut will meow if she is hungry or wants attention. She enjoys playing with paper balls and shoelaces. She will scratch at the arms of her owner’s leather couch. She shares a covered litter box filled with clumping litter. She eats Friskies or Fancy Feast wet food. She will only eat textured wet food not pate that it is chicken, tuna or turkey flavored. She also eats ProPlan dry cat food. Chestnut will sleep at the foot of the bed with her owner. DURING INTAKE Chestnut would purr and head bump in response to petting. She was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed.

Reaction to assessor: Chestnut comes to the front of the cage – soliciting attention, rubbing against the cage front and reaching out with paws. Reaction when softly spoken to: Chestnut stays at the front – continues to solicit attention, rubbing against the cage front, and meowing. Reaction to cage door opening: Chestnut remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Chestnut solicits petting and attention – rubbing against the assessor’s hands, chirping, and purring. Reaction to being picked up: Chestnut jumps calmly back into the cage. Behavior Determination: Beginner Chestnut interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
