Reaction to assessor: Chester is calm and relaxed at the front of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Chester rubs up against the kennel door soliciting attention.
Reaction to cage door opening: Chester is calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Chester rubs up against the assessor and allows petting all over.
Reaction to being picked up: Chester is a bit tense when held, gets antsy and leaps away. He comes back to the front soliciting attention.
Behavior Determination: Average
Chester interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

As per previous owner, Chester has been socialized with other cats and dogs and gets along great with them. He is described as being friendly, playful, assertive, independent, talkative and has a medium activity level. When Chester wants to play he’ll bring toys to you. He loves playing with wand toys, feather toys, jingling balls and lasers. Chester likes to use a vertical scratching post made of rope but sometimes scratches on the carpet.
Reaction to assessor: Chester’s eyes are wide and focused on all movements. His tail is curled up along the side of his body.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Chester lies motionless and lip licks.
Reaction to cage door opening: Chester remains neutral.
Reaction to touch: Chester is hesitant at first, leaning away from contact. He slowly warms up allowing petting all over. He continues to lip lick with his tail lowered and slowly comes to the front. Chester looks around and is wary of his surroundings.
Behavior Determination: Experience
Chester may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Basic information
Chester is a 7 year old neutered Brown tabby with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Chester for 3 months got him from family. Owner is surrendering because of too many pets.
Socialization
Around strangers Chester is shy for a few minutes but warms up quickly. Chester has lived with other cats and dogs and got along great with them. Chester plays gently with both the cats and dogs. Chester has not been socialized with children. When playing with adults Chester is very gentle.
Behavior
During car rides Chester is relaxed and quiet. Owners have not tried to bathe Chester. When trying to trim Chester’s nails he struggles to get away. Chester also doesn’t like to be picked up and held and will jump out of your arms. Chester enjoys being brushed and pet a lot. Chester will try to get away from being placed in carriers.
For the new family to know
Chester was described as friendly playful, assertive, independent and talkative with a medium activity level. When home with Chester he tends to follow you around. Chester will let you know when he wants to play by bringing his feather toy to you. Chester likes to play with wand toys feathers light balls jingling balls and lasers. Chester is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with tidy cats clumping litter. Chester eats both wet and dry food, wellness for wet and blue buffalo for dry. Chester uses a vertical scratching post made out of rope but sometimes scratches on the carpet. Chester likes to sleep on the beds, couches or chairs. Previous owner believes Chester would do well in any type of home because she’s very friendly.
Behavior during intake
During intake Chester was relaxed. Chester allowed counselor to scan and collar him with a loose relaxed body. While in kennel Chester came to the front and rubbed against it seeking attention. Chester enjoyed being pet by the counselor.
