SAFE 9/26/16 Babycat Chay is a friendly “beginner” with a severe URI… she’s been in Medical since arriving 9/21, waiting for someone to help her! She’s improving, but please don’t make her wait any longer, Chay needs you TODAY! HELP HER HEAL!

Chay A1090696 – 11 week female gray tabby:
Behavior
Chay was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.
Reaction to assessor: Chay meows very softly and slowly approaches the front of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Chay rubs up against the kennel door and then starts to groom herself.
Reaction to cage door opening: Chay remains calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Chay purrs softly, rubs up for attention and allows petting all over. She is very sweet and is very affectionate.
Reaction to being picked up: Chay is calm, relaxed and has a soft body when held.
Behavior Determination: Beginner
Chay interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.

P: CONTINUE WITH CURRENT TREATMENT AND MONITORING PLAN. GOOD PROGNOSIS

Recheck dehydrated kitten with URI
O: QAR. mm=pink, sl. moist. CRT=2 s. No interest in canned food.
EENT: Severe nasal discharge and crusting at nares, congestion. Ointment present in eyes. Chemosis and squinting OS.
MS: Amb x 4.
INTEG: Decreased skin turgor.
A: URI and dehydration. Lack of appetite due to illness.
P: Add on nebulization to treatment plan.
Give Nutrical PO BID if not eating.
Continue other therapy as planned.
Rec placement.
Prognosis good.

Check ill kitten
Microchip scan neg.
O: QAR. mm=lt pink, tacky, CRT<2 s.
EENT: OS- severe mucopurulent discharge, crusted shut.
Severe nasal discharge, crusting, congestion.
ABD: Palpation WNL.
UG: Female.
INTEG: Decreased skin turgor.
MS: Ambulatory x 4. Thin condition.
A: URI. Dehydration 7-10%.
P: Cleaned eye and nares to remove crusting.
Rx Terramycin oint. Apply Ou BID x 10 days.
Rx AmoxiClav 45.7 mg/ml. 0.3 ml PO BID x 10 days.
SQ LRS 20 ml BID x 2 days.
Monitor appetite.
Prognosis good.
