SAFE 9/29/17 Chardonnay came in with her 2 babies last night when the finder noticed she appeared to have a cold. She is a sweet mom and appears to be taking care of her babies. She will be at the MACC later in the day due to space at SI ACC. We would like to place her today.

History : found with 2 neonatal kittens; initially noted to be nursing well but one kitten appeared agonal this morning and was EHR; she appears to be rejecting the other kitten this morning Subjective: QAR Observed Behavior – unsocialized, hisses and regresses when approached but allows gentle handling Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective BCS 5/9 EENT: OU-blepharospasm, increased epiphora; crusting discharge at medial canthus; severe mucoid nasal discharge and congestion Oral Exam: mm pk, tacky; CRT <2 sec; mild tartar/staining PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: relative bradycardia (HR 120 bpm), no murmur/arrhythmia ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; no retained fetus palpable U/G: female; lactating MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: appears grossly normal Assessment URI with conjunctivitis Lactating Plan Cerenia 0.3 ml SQ SID x 2 days, gave first dose Erythromycin OU BID x 7 days Continue doxycycline removed kitten to provide heat support and force feed; will attempt to place back with her later today Prognosis: good SURGERY: temp waiver due to nursing
