***SAFE 02/16/18*** PRETTY LITTLE CECILIA LOST HER HOME DUE TO OWNER BEING HOSPITALIZED AND NOW NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT! Cecilia is a shy lady who allowed all handling during her exam but appears to need most, if not all, of her teeth removed due to severe dental disease. She needs a nice cozy home where she can feel safe. Please be the one to make her dream come true. Cecilia came from a home with many other cats and she is frightened being all alone in the shelter. All she needs is a new home and time to relax. MUST RESERVE HER BY NOON!!

Details on my behavior are…
Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
KNOWN HISTORY:: Cecilia was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in their previous home. Her finder reports she will try to flee and hide.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 02/11/18 Observed Behavior -Nervous, tries to flee but tolerates all medical handling
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 02/11/18 Standing upright in back of kennel, body tense. Body is partially hidden behind kuranda bed pillar – may be trying to hide. Avoids eye contact when spoken to and tolerates petting along head and body with the bear-claw while scooting away, tail tucked beneath body. Face is tense. Very nervous, needs more time to adjust. Not interested in treats at the moment. 02/12/18 Lying in litterbox, tail curled around feet and ears forward. Raises head and smells the bear-claw as it reaches towards her. Tolerates a few pets along her head and body before making eye contact and hissing. Not interested in treats at the moment. Needs more time to adjust. Playful and energetic – pipe cleaner toy has been totally destroyed.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Cecilia was lying down by the back, looking out with dilated eyes.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Cecilia continues to make eye contact, but does not approach the front.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Cecilia becomes stiff and alert.
Reaction to touch:: Cecilia remains frozen, but allows gentle petting with a slow approach. Her body twitches when pet along her back, but she tolerates attention. When overwhlemed by the noise in her surroundings, she slowly retreats to her other kennel space and wraps her tail tightly around her body.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Shy ,Timid,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful
Potential challenges comments:: Cecilia has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and appears uncomfortable with extended handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experienced, adult only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Cecilia tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent and will most likely need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
