***SAFE 10/06/17 ***ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SWEET BEGINNER RATED CECE TONIGHT!! CECE loves attention and rolls around playfully when petted! She is very affectionate. 7 year old Cece was dumped at the shelter when her owner was moving. Cece has mastitis or cysts on her entire left mammary chain and needs follow up vet care to determine treatment!! Cece needs someone to get her the care she needs. PLEASE GIVE CECE A HOME TONIGHT! RESERVE THIS SWEET CAT BY NOON!!

09/20/17 Blood work and radiographs performed due to very large cystic structures along left mammary chain-drained with butterfly. Aspiration yields +++ thin, straw to clear fluid. No palpable masses noted. Appear to be cystic in origin. Owner surrender CBC/Chem WNL Radiographs: No signs of metastasis to chest, abdomen WNL, soft tissue/fluid opacity of cystic structures

09/16/17 11:15 Basic Information: Cece is a 7 year old female. Cece does not have any previous or current health issues that the owner is aware of. Owner had Cece in the home since she was a kitten but had to surrender due to moving. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers, Cece is shy for a few minutes then comes out of her shell and is playful. She has been around children ages newborn, 4 and 8 on a daily basis and was always relaxed and respectful around them. Owner did not have any other cats in the home so behavior is unknown. Owner did have both small and large breed dogs (both male and female) around Cece and stated that Cece was tolerant of the animals but does fight over the bed with one of her dogs in the home. Cece does not have a bite history. Behavior: Cece is not bothered by having her coat brushed, being picked up and held, being put into a carrier or when someone disturbs her while she is sleeping. Owner has never tried to bathe her or trim her nails so behavior is unknown. For a New Family to Know: Cece is described as friendly, affectionate, mellow and quiet. She had a low activity level and prefers to lounge around the house rather than play with any toys. In the home, Cece loves to follow the owner around and rub against the owners legs. She was kept indoors only and is litter box trained. In the home, Cece used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Owner did not have a scratching post in the home for Cece to scratch on but stated that she would scratch on the owner’s speaker. In the home, Cece was fed dry food only brand Purina or Friskies.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Friendly, but a little timid, allows examination with minimal restraint. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 09/19/17 Lying in front of kennel, body relaxed. She stands up to allows petting along her head and body, leaning in with her tail raised. Friendly and social, doing well after first day! EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Cece comes forward to greet the assessor when approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cece is very affectionate and rubs her body up against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Cece is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Cece nuzzles against the assessor’s hand, starts to purr and allows petting all over. She appreciates attention, rolls around playfully and gives head butts. Reaction to being picked up: Buddy is calm, relaxed and has a soft body when held. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Energetic VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Sweet, Affectionate BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Cece interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.

Aspiration yields +++ thin, straw to clear fluid. No palpable masses noted. Appear to be cystic in origin. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, clean, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Cystic mammary glands (left chain): rule out cysts (secondary to previous mastitis?) vs neoplasia vs other in good health otherwise Plan: aspiration as above continue to monitor at BACC recommend thoracic radiographs (met check) recommend cytologic/fluid analysis.
