Hello, my name is Casper. My animal id is #10325. I am a desexed female brown tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 20-Oct-2017.
Casper is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats.

Monitor for URI S/O: QAR. Decreased appetite EENT: Eyes clear, very mild serous nasal discharge HL: Occasional sneeze, few sneeze marks, normal RR/RE A: URI, decreased appetite P: Rec doxycycline 1.2ml PO q24 x 10 days, mirtazapine 1/4 tab PO. Excellent prognosis

KNOWN HISTORY:: Casper was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. Her finder reports she allowed them to pick her up and place her into a carrier with ease. Casper allowed counselor to move her from a different carrier during intake.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – did not allow to handle patient, used chemical restraint
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/22/17 Sitting upright in back of kennel. She tenses her body and flattens her ears as I reach forward with the bear-claw. Tolerates petting briefly while whipping head around and hissing, body hunched over and tense as she raises her paw. Needs more time to adjust.
Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged
Reaction to assessor:: Casper was lying down by the back, neutral.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Casper looks away and blinks softly.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Casper becomes alert, but remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Casper focuses on the assessor’s hand and slowly approaches it to sniff. She accepts gentle petting with a slow approach and head-butts lightly. She arches her body and rolls over after, but will become tense and focus on surroundings when there is movement or noise.
